Acquisition of vacant property

CRA projects in Central have focused on the plan goals of acquiring key properties, removing commercial uses from residential areas, adding green space, and developing a sense of community. The purchase of Mission Lake Plaza, renamed Renaissance Plaza, allowed the CRA to move out commercial tenants and to replace them with the Lauderhill Arts Center, which has brought working artists, exhibitions, and classes to the community. It also allowed for one of the three buildings to be demolished and plans to replace it with greens pace.
The CRA is working with the City to redevelop the old City Hall site.  A new community pool and recreation center will be built on part of the site and the remainder will be added as open space to City Hall Park.

In addition, a greenway and walking path will be constructed along NW 19 Street between the Turnpike overpass and NW 55 Avenue.
